Project Engineer (Track)

This multidisciplinary construction management and Engineering consultancy firm is currently delivering infrastructure projects in Nigeria. They have just won a 3 year contract to carry out a design review, independent on site supervision and contract administration of the new light rail transit system being implemented in Lagos.

The project is the implementation a new 27km light rail transit system. The line is being developed as a part of a major transport corridor development in Lagos, which a tolled expressway with a 15m right of way corridor in the middle to accommodate the new light rail transit system. The new rail alignment and 13 new stations, as well as railway structures to support the light railway, will be constructed by the design and build contractor and all other services will be implemented by the operator/maintainer.

As the Project Engineer, you will be required to review the alignment design, to ensure that the track design is cost effective, safe and compliant with all relevant standards. You will also have to be responsible for the supervision of the track alignment work on-site and liaise with all other disciplines of engineering, contractor and client to ensure a timely delivery of the project to programme and budget.

To be successful you should have the following:
· An excellent understanding of track design, components and track standards.
· A basic knowledge of other rail disciplines and how their work interlinks with track engineering.
· A good understanding of what operators and maintainers require from the delivery of a new railway system.
· Experience of on-site supervision.
· An understanding of how to design and construct track that is cost effective across its life span.
· A good knowledge and understanding of risk assessment and quality assurance procedures for both design and construction.
· Excellent report writing skill and experience of preparing regular progress reports for the project.
· A relevant qualification, e.g. a minimum of a HNC and 15 years experience on track engineering.
