We are currently working with a company who is seeking a Lead I&C Engineer for a 12 month assignment in India. The project involves the construction of a 2x350MW Coal Fired Power Plant in Andra Pradesh. Construction has commenced and is expected to be concluded within 12 months.

Job Description
As Lead I&C Engineer, you would be responsible for a team of 5 Engineers, reviewing the engineering and design documents of all I&C equipment submitted by the contractors, including finding solutions to issues that may arise and making sound engineering judgements.

Also your responsibilities would include:
ensure that the DCS systems and PLC's functional descriptions, technical specifications, data sheets of equipment, I&C typical drawings provided by the Contractors are complete and consistent with the project requirements and the good practices;
ensure that the DCS system as well as other dedicated control systems have been properly sized and designed according the different packages interfaces;
check the contractual package interface points;
control the interfaces, and in case of incompleteness with respect to the Project requirements, take the initiative to resolve the inconsistencies;
identify design or practices improvements which could benefit the Client's objectives;
review material choices for equipment to be consistent with functional and environmental constraints;
check that the design schedule together with physical progress curves (monthly progress report ) related to the I&C discipline are consistent with Project requirements;
ensure that the design is consistent with regard to the Contracts, the technical Project requirements and the good practices, including Health and Safety aspects;
check that the contractor's activity/organisation/actions are matching with the project timing constraints.

Furthermore, as a Package Manager, you are responsible for managing the interactions with the contractors related to engineering issues and the progress of the schedule. A close interaction with the engineering and contract managers will be required.

Profile and Experience required
An Engineer with experience in the engineering and design of I&C systems of a 100MW+ coal fired power plant, including :
DCS systems;
PLC automation;
Instrumentation for several packages within a coal fired power plant.
good knowledge of applicable codes, norms and standards
experience in management of a team of Engineers;
experience in negotiations with vendors and clients;
experience in I&C Construction and Commissioning of Coal Fired Power Plants;
fluent in English (written and spoken).
