We currently have a vacancy for a Clerk of Works to work in the south Atlantic. The position entails the following:
Duties will be generally in accordance with those set out in the Clerk of Works Manual published by the Institute of Clerk of Works including health & safety and others notified by the Contracts Engineer
Inspect and evaluate the works to ensure that these are carried out to specification, budget and programme
Supervision and monitoring of single and multiple contracts varying from 10,000 to 5,000,000
Monitor and record all events and progress as these occur in order that reference to the facts can easily be made in the event of dispute or other problems
Produce summary reports at weekly or other such intervals as may be needed on the progress and standard of work undertaken so that key information can easily be obtained by others
Provide advice and assistance to the Contractor to facilitate the progress of the works to quality, time and monetary targets
Measure and evaluate works done by the Contractor
Interpret contract terms, conditions and specifications to ensure the physical end result reflects these
Liaise with the Contractor to ensure all necessary information is available to properly execute the works.

To qualify you must have the following qualification and experience:
H.N.C. and/or membership of the Clerk of Works, coupled with on-site experience or appropriate level of equivalent experience
At least 6 years in the construction industry under similar positions
Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary construction team
Ability to liaise successfully with clients, consultants, build users and contractors in a proactive manner
Good verbal and written communication skills adequate to communicate your ideas to people of all different levels
Ability to manage own workload and work to deadlines, often across several large contracts at the same time
Able to read and understand large volumes of documentation including drawings and specifications. Identify potential conflicts and monitor compliance of contractor
Demonstrate understanding of time, cost and quality issues
Able to produce concise, accurate reports and manage site paperwork
